Where Limitless Opportunities Begin
Higley Unified School District is proud to offer quality early learning programs in our state-of-the-art Early Childhood Development Centers and on the campuses of select elementary schools. Unlike many preschool programs in the Gilbert and Queen Creek area, ours are all led by certified teachers. The Higley Unified experience starts as early as age three with our Brilliant Beginnings program. Our comprehensive, play-based learning environment makes preschool fun and engaging, providing opportunities to discover, spark curiosity, and love learning. With resources and supports for students with individualized or unique needs, our qualified educators are here to prepare every learner for limitless opportunities.
HUSD Preschool Programs
Available for children with special needs who qualify for services. Contact the school of your choice for qualifying details.
Locations: Cooley Early Childhood Development Center, Sossaman Early Childhood Development Center
Available for children ages 3-4 who are potty-trained. Students develop a love of learning through play-based activities.
Locations: Cooley Early Childhood Development Center, Sossaman Early Childhood Development Center
Available for children ages 4-5 who are ready to prepare for kindergarten. Students learn foundational skills to help their kindergarten transition.
Locations: Cooley Early Childhood Development Center, Sossaman Early Childhood Development Center, Higley Traditional Academy, Gateway Pointe Elementary
Available for children ages 4-5. Students spend part of the week learning in Spanish and part of the week learning in English to develop two sets of language skills at once.

The Higley Unified School District Governing Board meeting schedule can be found on the district website at husd.org/board-meetings. The public is welcome to attend all board meetings. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the meetings. Board Business Meetings and Work Study Sessions are livestreamed on the district YouTube channel. Please note, Points of Pride, Higley Adventures, and Requests to Speak are not included during the Work Study meetings.
We would like to remind families who are interested in making a tax credit donation this season, that this can be made for any one of our schools through our HUSD website.
An individual may claim a nonrefundable tax credit for making cash contributions or for certain fees paid to a public school located in Arizona.
To qualify for the credit, an individual must make contributions for qualifying expenditures per A.R.S. § 43-1089.01. The credit is equal to the amount of fees paid or cash contributions, not to exceed $400 for married filing joint filers and $200 for all other filing statuses. Students across Higley Unified School District (HUSD) are seeing the impact of the democratic process, after School Participatory Budgeting projects from last year’s program were completed over summer break.

As students return to classrooms this school year, K-5 students will be greeted with a brand-new English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum designed to support reading, writing and literacy instruction. The new curriculum was approved last year after the district’s existing resource was discontinued from the state’s approved requirements.
